Building Community Through History

THE BIG DIG

May 2nd - 5th, 2013

When Superior's main street, Tower Avenue, undergoes complete reconstruction, workers discover something more than old pipes 15 feet below street level: a body.  Flashback to the wild days of Prohibition.  Nell, a student at the "Normal School" (predecessor to UWS) aims to break the tradition of an all-male staff on the college newspaper, The Peptomist by writing an article about Superior's dark underbelly.  The problem with that is you have to go to the source....

7:30 PM performances:
(Thu) May 2 - (Fri) May 3 - (Sat) May 4

2:00 PM matinee
(Sun) May 5

TICKETS: $12.00

Karl Johnson of Access Lifts tries out the new elevator lift. Our Wish Has Come True!

LEFT: Karl Johnson of Access Lifts tries out the new elevator lift.

Last December the city council approved to award DCHS $91,000 from the City Development Block Grant, CDBG, so that your historical society can be accessible to the entire community by installing an accessibility elevator lift!

        • Total cost of lift - $110,800.

  • LaPorte General Contracting is preparing the space for the elevator lift shaft and the lift has been ordered. Businesses have been generous with donations of paint and products for our new accessible restroom. People have been sending donations. We’re closer to our dream of having an accessible building because of our community’s generosity. But we still have a ways to go. Any amount will help us achieve our goal. Recognition of your donation of $100. or more will be displayed near the elevator.  All donations are tax deductible.
